This collection of new work is comprised of imagery, color palettes, tools and resources we use in the studio daily. It was an exercise in taking what objects and tools surround us and configuring those pieces into collaborative compositions. Each series is a study on utilizing our own detritus and recycling it into something new. As a process driven studio, the narrative defines the work we create as we navigate through multiple disciplines. Applying that process to the concept of a “Print Show” has lead us to producing several series of unique multiples, each series serves more as a family or suggestion and each print within that family retains its own identity. The result is a print show with hundreds of originals to choose from. The show opens at 6pm at The Piranha Shop. Prints will be hung throughout the gallery and prints will be removed from the wall upon purchase, so come early! There will be editions of 1 and editions of 20, prices will range between 40-150. West Seattle Wine Cellars  - Arborist" by Rachel Setz er.   Everyone can be redeemed. With the right ingredients, some love, compassion, and time anything and anyone can be made beautiful again no matter how far down they have been destroyed. The Arborist series began as an exercise in making something pretty. Soon it began to give me peace and refuge from my other responsibilities, and I took the opportunity to hide in paintings of trees that reminded me of easier times. Then, it took on a brand new life when I combined Arborist with a newly discovered love of making my own paper by hand. Also check out new work at  Arts West,   Click! Bo challenges concepts of freedom and form, and we are amazed at her unconventional use of mens underwear and plastic bags. "Jeffrey Mitchell's Turn"  4th Tuesdays at  Joe Bar.  Tuesday, 22 December at Joe Bar from 6. 30-9. The 7 th installment in this inaugural series is coming up. Stay tuned! TURN is a year-long collaborative exhibition platform, where twelve artists take turns transforming a single piece. To start, one artist is selected to create a piece for opening night. Each ensuing artist takes it for one month, shows their progress for one evening, then hands it off. Changes to the piece may be made to any degree, so long as some physical or aesthetic part of what's received remains. During these monthly exhibitions, when the indefinite work comes into focus, the exhibiting artist proposes a title and a conclusion to the finished piece. What do we call it? What do we do with it when we're done? At the end of the final exhibition, a title and a conclusion are chosen. Finishing the process, one last gathering is held to deliver the piece to its chance destination. Created by Shaun Kardinal. ONGOING: The  SAAM  is currently  featuring: Conceal/Reveal: Making Meaning in Chinese Art" 20 December 2014 - 14 February 2016.  This exhibition shows that Chinese artists traditionally employ different approaches to construct layered meanings in an indirect but intriguing way: using one motif to represent another, either through their literary associations or shared pronunciations (homophones) playing with mediums such as using contemporary ceramics to imitate ancient lacquerware; or the pretext of metaphors to make social or political commentaries. This purposeful layering by the artist invites the viewer to mentally peel the layers and reveal the embedded meanings. The  SAM   is currently featuring: Intimate Impressionism" 1 October 2015 - 10 January 2016.   The collection is comprised of extraordinary paintings, considered to be the jewels of one of the finest collections of French Impressionism in the world. This exhibition features 68 intimately scaled paintings by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masters, including Edouard Manet, Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Eugène Boudin, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Pierre Bonnard, Edouard Vuillard, Paul Gauguin, and Vincent van Gogh, among others. These works, which are prominently presented in the East Building of the National Gallery, have long been treasured by the museums visitors and prized by art historians. "Rebel Rebel" 29 August - 29 December.  Potent rebuttals against female stereotypes by women artists are front and center in this installation. Starting in the 1960s in the wake of the feminist movement, women artists rebelled against clichés—notably the image of the seductive Eve and the persistent proclamation of male power and genius. Still a pressing issue today, younger artists represent women and their work in visual refutations that range from punchy to lyrical. Male critiques of traditional gender roles are also on view: a version of a gay pioneer couple is included in a set of dinner plates, and a patchwork quilt dedicated to Glacier National Park deflates expectations of the great outdoors as an arena for male machismo. Bainbridge Island Museum of Art  is currently featuring: New Light" by Steven Maslach (10 October 2015 - 7 February 2016.   Bainbridge Island Glass artist Steven Maslach is featured in a solo show with a survey of large-scale cast glass, wood and mixed media sculptures. New Light refers to his recent development of a unique means of coloring thick, clear glass. Also featured in the exhibition are examples of his older work which use more conventionally colored glass. "A Story Place" by Nancy Thorne Chambers (10 October 2015 - 7 February 2016.  A Story Place is an enchanting ceramic installation featuring thirty life-size animals and insects sitting intently in a forest, listening to a child reading a story—a story that is curiously about them.  A Story Place is a visual feast that speaks volumes about the simple but very complex idea of "relationship. Creating a sense of "story" within "visual relationships" is what inspires clay artist Nancy Thorne Chambers. Each sculpture is hand-built, fired, glazed, fired again then painted with layers of color to enhance depth to hair and fur. Every gesture, expression, clothing color and finish is carefully chosen both artistically and with relationship to their group setting. Nancy is a former family therapist from Olympia. Wayne Bund @ Gage Gage Academy of Art   is currently featuring: Drink & Draw"  every 1st Friday from 7-9pm.  Each session is based on a theme – a costumed model, still life arrangements, music, videos and more. Well provide the drawing materials for free – or just have a cocktail or glass of wine and watch the artists work! No formal instruction is provided, no host bar. Ages 21+ only, please. 10 at the door. "Sanctum. Henry The  Henry Art Gallery  is currently featuring: Maximum Fun: A New Sincerity Event"  Maximum Fun is part picnic, part aerobics class, and part community-building event featuring works by Nat Evans, Mario Lemafa, and Elizabeth Spavento. Join us at the UW's Sylvan Theater to traverse mental obstacle courses, jump over things, and shout in unison. Playing off Jesse Thorn's Manifesto for the New Sincerity, Maximum Fun seeks to probe the relationship between sincerity and irony through a series of interactive activities inspired by the legendary Evel Knievel. The  Frye Art Museum  is currently featuring: Structure & Ornament"  by Leo Saul Berk, an exhibition which comprises sculptural and video work by Seattle artist Leo Saul Berk, as well as two new site-specific works commissioned by the Museum. "Andy Warhol: Little Red Book #178"   Little Red Book #178 comprises nineteen Polaroids of friends and celebrities, many of whom were involved in the production of Warhol's film L'Amour (1973) which was filmed in Paris in September 1970. L'Amour was written and directed by Warhol and Paul Morrissey. The film starred Warhol superstars Jane Forth and Donna Jordan, French actor Max Delys, and American actor Michael Sklar; the cast also included Peter Greenlaw and fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The Frye also hosts an art lecture series every Thursday night. With this much going on, you couldn't possibly complain that there's nothing to do in Seattle! Support your local art scene! Cheers. ~ BCDuncan.

This art is my way of tugging at old wounds, stretching out and gnawing over old heartbreak and disappointment, using vague images of my body as the language. The materials are simple, and straightforward: one color of oil paint on bleak birch panels. Im trying to create a portrait of longing, of a fleeting, anonymous stillness. I am remembering sadness. Showing through 8 November. "Sci Fi Art 2015" group show at Urban Light Studios Featuring Casey Brookbush, Derek Ross, Ashley N Joncas, Eli Wolff & Alexander Williamson. Showing through 13 November. COMING UP: Artifact Gallery AXIS Gallery Davidson Galleries Flatcolor Gallery Greg Kucera Gallery Linda Hodges Gallery The  Pioneer Square Art Walk  ~ Thursday,  5 November  from 5-9pm. She creates compelling environments and artwork for clients and collectors in public and private spaces and collections. Randolph's work has contributed immeasurably to the vibrant art and design movement in Seattle's Capitol Hill Neighborhood. AXIS Pioneer Sq uare  - Between the Devil & the Deep" by Yvette Endrijautzki & Javier Ortega.  Javier Ortega and Yvette Endrijautzki construct a dark visual wonderland, taking surrealist twists through time warps, old puzzles, and melancholy tales. With film preview of "A Brief History of Time Travel" by Gisella Bustillos. Davidson Galleries  - Horror Vacui" by Ben Beres.  “Horror Vacui” is Latin for "fear of empty space. ” In artwork, it means filling the entirety of a space or surface with detail. Nature abhors a vacuum, as did the Victorians an undecorated square inch. For his third show at Davidson since 2002, Ben Beres channels this impulse in a process that exhausts his personal idée fixe while expertly mashing together Renaissance technology with a sampling of contemporary culture. Brown, Sarah Sheil, Hal Rotter, Jas Helena, Dave Correia, Martin Ontiveros, Jamiyla Lowe, Todd Ryan White. “Hands of Doom" is a group exhibition featuring hand-made creations from the darkest corners of the art realm. Delving into blackest voids, burning light and the gray gloom in-between. From haunting wastelands and bleak visions of the future to dark rituals and rites of magic and sorcery - raise your "Hands of Doom" and join Flatcolor in this exhibition of the dreadful and morbid. Selected shows:  Twilight Gallery  - MLLE X" by Hanna Myers.  The MLLE X exhibition arose from the artist's recent personal struggle with coinciding mental and physical illness. Myers was inspired to create work that explored the experience of realizing how little control we as individuals possess over our biology, and how devastating that realization can be. Myers used the the story of Mademoiselle X, an anonymized woman from history who was incapable of reconciling her physical and mental selves into one being, as a filter for better understanding her own internal struggles. West Seattle Wine Cellars. Arborist" by Rachel Setz er. "Turn (Part 4: TBA)  4th Tuesdays at  Joe Bar.  Tuesday,  24  November  at Joe Bar from 6. 30-9. The 4th installment in this inaugural series is coming up. Stay tuned!  TURN is a year-long collaborative exhibition, where twelve artists take turns transforming a single piece. " Creating a sense of "story" within "visual relationships" is what inspires clay artist Nancy Thorne Chambers. Cheers. ~ BCDuncan.
